Sustainability Codes of Conduct
for our partners
At JS Travel, we believe that every journey should create positive value for travellers, local communities, our partners, and the destinations we operate in.
As part of our commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism, we have developed a series of Codes of Conduct for our suppliers and service providers. These guidelines are designed to support practical, responsible and respectful operations across all travel experiences, from wildlife activities and marine excursions to community visits, nature-based experiences and transport services.
They are not intended as a control tool, but as a shared framework to help us work together with the same standards of quality, safety, ethics and sustainability. By following these principles, our partners help protect Thailand’s natural and cultural heritage, improve traveller awareness, and contribute to a more responsible tourism industry.
Animal Welfare & Responsible Wildlife Experiences
Animal-related experiences must always be designed around respect, welfare and protection. At JS Travel, we only support activities where animals are treated with dignity, where their natural behaviour is respected, and where tourism does not cause stress, harm or exploitation.
This Code of Conduct provides guidance for suppliers offering wildlife, sanctuary, rescue centre, farm or animal observation experiences. It highlights the importance of avoiding direct contact, performances, forced interactions, inappropriate feeding, and any activity that may compromise animal welfare. Our goal is to promote meaningful and educational encounters that support conservation, ethical practices and traveller awareness.
Safe, Responsible & Lower-Impact Transport Services
Transport is an essential part of every journey and plays a key role in traveller safety, service quality and environmental impact.
This Code of Conduct is designed for drivers, vehicle providers, transfer companies, boat transfers and any transport partner working with JS Travel. It highlights the importance of licensed and trained drivers, well-maintained vehicles, safe driving behaviour, punctuality, respectful service, fuel efficiency and responsible waste management.
Whenever possible, JS Travel encourages transport partners to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, avoid idling, optimise routes, support cleaner transport solutions and provide a safe, comfortable and professional experience for all travellers.
Respectful Community Visits & Local Engagement
Community-based experiences can create meaningful connections between travellers and local people, but they must always be conducted with respect, fairness and sensitivity.
This Code of Conduct is intended for suppliers involved in village visits, local markets, cultural activities, home visits, workshops, schools, temples or any experience involving direct interaction with local communities. It encourages partners to respect local customs, traditions, privacy and beliefs, while ensuring that tourism brings fair economic benefits to the people involved.
Community experiences should never feel intrusive or staged. They should be based on mutual respect, clear communication, appropriate behaviour from travellers, and genuine benefits for local hosts.
Responsible Nature-Based Activities
Nature-based tourism offers travellers the opportunity to discover Thailand’s landscapes, forests, waterfalls, national parks, mountains and rural areas. These experiences must be managed carefully to avoid damaging the very places that make them special.
This Code of Conduct applies to hiking, cycling, kayaking, trekking, waterfall visits, national park excursions and all outdoor activities in natural areas. It focuses on protecting flora and fauna, reducing waste, managing group size, staying on designated paths, respecting protected areas, and briefing travellers before each activity.
Our objective is to make nature experiences enjoyable, safe and educational, while ensuring that our presence has the lowest possible impact on the environment.
Responsible Boating, Snorkelling & Marine Wildlife Activities
Thailand’s marine environments are among its most valuable natural assets. Coral reefs, mangroves, beaches and marine wildlife are fragile ecosystems that require careful protection.
This Code of Conduct applies to boat operators, snorkelling providers, island-hopping excursions, diving partners and marine wildlife viewing activities. It outlines key principles related to safety, permits, weather monitoring, waste management, responsible anchoring, respectful wildlife observation, and reduced disturbance to marine habitats.
All marine activities should be operated in a way that prioritises guest safety, respects local regulations, protects biodiversity and minimises pressure on coastal and underwater ecosystems.
